The Windows Group Policy Update command updates settings on the computer soon after the command is executed. This forces system changes to take effect more quickly than the average Group Policy update cycle which can be an hour or more in some instances.
Note: This process will only be useful if your computer is a managed desktop on the Wolftech domain. It does not require admin rights.
When it becomes necessary to force a group policy update, please follow these instructions:
- Click on the Start Menu, type cmd and press enter.
- A new black and white window will open.
- Type gpupdate /force (note the space before the slash) and press enter.
- Wait for the update to complete.
- See the screenshot below for what a successful group policy update should look like.
- To close, type exit and press enter.
Note: You may be prompted to Restart your computer. If so complete the Restart.
