WolfPrint User FAQ's
This documentation provides answers to WolfPrint's frequently asked questions. The intended audience is an end user. If you are interested in more technical details about the service, please see WolfPrint Technical FAQ's.
1. What is WolfPrint?
WolfPrint is NC State’s accounted printing service and is available to anyone with a valid Unity ID and an active WolfPack One card. For information on how to print using the WolfPrint system, please visit the WolfPrint website
2. Where are the WolfPrint printers located?
WolfPrint printers are conveniently located across campus in Unity labs, several residence halls, libraries, and many colleges. The FollowMe print queues are deployed on most managed computers in student labs, and can also be used with Mobility Print and Web Print for mobile printing. Locate a printer using the Find a Printer list online.
3. What is “Touch-Free” print release and what are the QR Code labels for on the printers?
Each WolfPrint FollowMe printer on NC State’s campus will feature a Quick Response or QR code on its front panel for touch-free print release. While traditional print release using an NCSU ID card or manual login will still be available, users have the option to scan a QR code using their mobile device and release their print job from the web.
For more information, see the Knowledge Base article QR Codes for Touch-Free Print Release
3. Do the printers support duplexing?
Yes. The WolfPrint printers support automatic duplex (double-sided printing). If you are printing from a lab machine, choose the duplex option in the print driver. If you are printing from a mobile device, use Mobility Print and choose the duplex option after selecting the WolfPrint FollowMe printer. Web Print does NOT support duplex. Double-sided prints are charged as two pages.
4. Can I scan documents from a WolfPrint printer?
Yes. There are models of WolfPrint Printers with Scan and Photocopy Capability The scanned file will be sent to your NCSU Google Drive.
5. If my print job fails or has poor quality, can I request a refund?
Yes. WolfPrint will refund your print credit if your print job fails or has poor print quality. To request a refund, follow these steps:

An administrator will process your request and send a notification through your NCSU email account. All refunds are applied to the PaperCut account as print credit.
6. What is Print Credit?
- Print Credit is for printing only!
- Print Credit is generated when a print job is refunded in PaperCut.
- Print credit does not expire.
7. Why is my All Campus balance wrong?
If your ID card has been reported lost to the WolfPack One Card office or if your ID card has expired, you will not be able to use the funds for printing and WolfPrint will reflect a balance of $0.00. Contact the Wolfpack One Card office for assistance with either of these issues.
8. Can I print using a mobile device or laptop?
Yes. You can use Web Print or Mobility Print to print from a laptop or mobile device using WolfPrint. WebPrint supports only PDF files, but Mobility Print (preferred) supports printing from any application that allows printing.
For Mobility Print (to print various file types):
-
- Connect to NC State's Network (NCSU Wifi, Eduroam, or VPN)
- See Mobility Print Instructions
For Web Print (PDF files only):
-
- Log into WolfPrint with your Unity User ID and Password.
- Select Web Print from the left sidebar menu.
- Follow the prompts to print or see FollowMe Printing with Web Print Instructions.
9. Can I print from an off-campus location?
Yes. You can send your print job from an off-campus location and it will be held for you in the WolfPrint virtual FollowMe print queue for up to 12 hours. To access WolfPrint resources from an off-campus location, you MUST first establish a secure connection to the campus network using NC State’s Virtual Private Networking (VPN) Service.
10. How do I request a Shared Account to fund printing?
WolfPrint offers “Shared Accounts” that are for departmental use only. A shared account is used to fund printing for a student, faculty, or staff member using interdepartmental funds. To request a Shared Account or to modify an existing shared account, submit a Departmental Funding Request for Students.
