If you have the Duo Mobile app installed and activated on your phone, you can generate a passcode if you are having issues receiving a Duo Push or SMS text message from Duo.
This works anywhere, even in places where you don't have an internet connection or can't get cell service.
Generate Passcode
- At the Duo prompt, click Duo Mobile passcode.
- First, select Other options if it is trying to send you a push notification by default.
- Open the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone and tap the NC State University account in your list.
- Enter this code under where it says Passcode and then click Verify.
- The passcodes (TOTP) automatically refresh every 30 seconds.
Unable to Generate a Passcode
- Update your Duo Mobile app. Duo's TOTP codes require Duo Mobile 4.49.0 or newer.
- If you are unable to generate codes from the Duo Mobile app or if the codes you generated are not working, then you can generate bypass codes for Duo at go.ncsu.edu/2fabypass.
