Enter an Authentication Code on a Printer for a PC


Some printers require that a code be input into its configuration in order to print.

 

 

Information


How to enter a printer authentication code on a PC:

Step 1:

  • Click on your Start Menu and start typing Printers
  • It should auto-complete and present you with the option Printers & scanners
  • Click on Printers & Scanners

Step 2:

  • Click on the printer that needs a code          
  • Click on the Manage button

 

     

  

Step 3:

Click on Printing preferences

 

   

 

Step 4:

  • Click on the Basic tab at the top of the window
  • Then click on the button Authentication/Account Track 

 

   

 

Step 5: 

  • Enter your code into the Password field
  • Click on the Verify button 
  • You should receive a message that says, "Verification has succeeded."
  • You must click OK, APPLY and OK again for your changes to be saved
  • Send a test print to the printer to ensure it is working correctly.
