Support staff frequently need the "Computer Name" to be able to provide specific types of support. This document is intended to guide end users to be able to find and provide the name of the device to support staff if the device is not labeled. 

 

 

 

 

Information

 

For macOS 13 (Ventura) or 14 (Sonoma) or 15 (Sequoia)

 

For macOS 26 (Tahoe) or Newer

 Click the Apple Menu in the top-left corner and select System Settings (or System Preferences on older versions).

  1. Select General in the sidebar.
  2. Click About on the right side.
  3. View Name: Your computer's name is listed next to the Name field.

 

For macOS 12 (Monterey) or older 

Step 1

If you are logged in using your Unity ID on your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences.
 
 

Step 2

Then click Sharing
 
 
 
 

Step 3

The Computer Name for your Mac appears at the top of Sharing preferences.
