If you have access to VPN, then you can connect to the NCSU VPN by following the instructions below. To install the Secure Client, see How Do I Install the NC State VPN Client?

Sign into the NC State VPN

  1. Open the Cisco Secure Client app.
  2. Enter vpn.ncsu.edu and select Connect.
    The Cisco Secure Client app open with "vpn.ncsu.edu" entered.
  3. Select the appropriate VPN group for your needs and affiliation at NC State for the Group.
  4. Enter your Unity ID in the Username field and your Unity password in the Password field.
  5. In the Second Password field, enter one of the following to initiate Duo Two Factor Authentication:
    • push to receive a Duo Push (Be sure to check the Duo Mobile app for the push.)
    • sms to get an SMS passcode sent to your phone (After you receive the code, submit the login information again, but this time use the SMS code as the Second Password.)
    • a code from the Duo Mobile app
    • a self-service Duo bypass code

  6. Select OK and wait for Cisco Secure Client to connect to the NC State network.

Note: You must keep the Cisco Secure Client open to maintain the VPN connection.
