Using Mobility Print from macOS

This document explains the setup for using Mobility Print on macOS for printing to WolfPrint printers.  The intended audience is an end user.

Information

Using Mobility Print from macOS

Important!  In order to add the WolfPrint printers for Mobility Print during setup, your device must be on the NC State network.  On-campus users, connect to the NC State wireless network and use Eduroam or NCSU. Off-campus users, connect using NC State's VPN Service  (https://go.ncsu.edu/vpn-install).

Mobility Print advertises printers to macOS devices on the campus WiFi and over NC State's VPN connection.  On the initial setup, you must verify that Use is set to Secure AirPrint in order to see the WolfPrint Mobility Print printers.

Install and Configure the WolfPrint FollowMe Printers

  • Navigate to System Preferences > Printers and Scanners.
  • Click the plus icon under the Printers List.
  • Add dialog is displayed. It displays a list of all of the discovered printers on the network.  To filter this, type wolfprint in the search field at the top.
  • Select one of the WolfPrint FollowMe printers that uses the bojour protocol. The Name, Location, and Use is displayed.
  • At the bottom of the dialog box:
    • For macOS 13 Ventura, Use will be set to Secure AirPrint.
    • For macOS 12 Monterey, Use will be set to Generic PostScript.
    • For macOS 11 Big Sur and earlier, check that Use is set to Secure AirPrint.
  • For macOS Big Sur and earlier, if Secure AirPrint isn't displayed:
    • Close the Add dialog box and disconnect from the network.
    • Reconnect to NC State network and check to see if Secure AirPrint is listed.
    • If not, stop here and submit a help request using the online form:

Submit your file(s) to Print

  • Print like you normally would from your device, selecting the desired WolfPrint FollowMe Printer.
  • If prompted, enter your Unity ID and password.

Important! After your print job is submitted, you must confirm it within 10 minutes by following the steps below; otherwise, it will automatically be removed from the system.

Confirm and Release your print job

  • Open the PaperCut Web Client (https://go.ncsu.edu/wolfprint).
  • Log in with your Unity ID and password.
  • After a few seconds, you should get a Print Job Notification pop up.
  • Select the PaperCut account to charge and then click Print.
  • Another pop-up message should appear, indicating that your file is ready to print on a FollowMe printer.
  • Click OK and then located a WolfPrint FollowMe printer to release your job from.
