Information
The Office of Information Technology always recommends backing up any important information to be restored later for use. The steps below are how to back up and restore macros in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Steps to Export Word and Excel Macros.
This process saves macros for backup purposes.
- Open the Word documents or Excel spreadsheets where you have your macros saved.
- Press ALT+F11 to open the VBA Editor.
- On the modules which contain macros, right click and select Export File which will result in text files with extension *.bas.
Steps to Import Word and Excel Macros.
This process restores macros for use.
- Open the Word documents or Excel spreadsheets where you have your macros saved.
- Press ALT+F11 to open the VBA Editor.
- Right click on the module where you want to import the macro from and select Import File.
- Browse to and select the macro to be imported.
