You may encounter an error message saying, "Profile Installation Failed — The SCEP server returned an invalid response," during the profile installation step when enrolling an iOS device in eduroam.

This issue is most often related to a particular network that your device is connected to, which may block certain ports or communication that prevents the enrollment from completing properly.

Forget the Public Network

To solve this issue, you should forget the ncsu_guest or other public network that you are connected to by following the instructions below. Forgetting the network will prevent your device from trying to use that network over cellular or other wireless networks that may also be in range.

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap the More information button (blue "i" icon) next to the network that you want to forget.
  3. Tap Forget This Network. Tap Forget to confirm.

After disconnecting from and forgetting the public network, connect to your cellular data or a secure network (e.g., the ncsu network on campus). Then, try re-enrolling in eduroam again.
