Installing SQL Developer

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This document outlines the process for installing SQL Developer.

Installation (if Application)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To open the Software Center program, search for it on your device by typing "software" in the search box and selecting the Software Center option. The Search box will be in or near your start menu.

After opening the Software Center, you can find the "Applications" tab and navigate to it.

Under the Applications tab, double-click “SQL Developer.”

And then click “Install.”

Once the “SQL Developer” installation process is complete, you should see the word “Uninstalled” displayed under the installation status in the Software Center.

Once the installation is complete, a reboot is necessary to finalize the installation process.

Start the SQL Developer application by double-clicking on the desktop shortcut labeled 'sqldeveloper - Shortcut.'

When you open Oracle SQL Developer for the first time, you'll be prompted to specify the location of your installed JDK. Click the 'Browse' button and navigate to the directory containing 'java.exe.' For instance, on a Windows system, the standard installation path for JDK version 7 is typically 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre\bin\java.exe.'"

Troubleshooting

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the application does not show in your Software center, please submit a ticket through the help desk and have it assigned to OIT_DESKTOP_SUPPORT
