You may need to reactivate Duo Mobile on your device if you get a new phone with the same phone number, have factory reset your device, have removed the Duo Mobile app, or need to reactivate Duo Mobile on your device for any other reason.

If you have a new phone number and can't sign in using Duo, then you should follow the instructions on how to change phone numbers in Duo without access to your old login method.

Access the My Setting & Devices Page

To reactivate Duo on your device, you must first access the Duo Enrollment and Device Management page.

  1. Go to the Duo Enrollment and Device Management page.
    • Note: We recommend that you visit this page on a computer if possible.
  2. Sign in with your Unity ID and password.
  3. When you are prompted to log in through Duo, use one of the following alternative login methods to sign in. Send Me a Push will typically NOT work.
    • Request and use an SMS (text) passcode. (currently not working due to a system outage)
    • Generate and use a self-service Duo bypass code.
    • Use another device (e.g., tablet, phone, or security key) that is also already enrolled in Duo. (If you are using another device, make sure that Device: at the top of the box shows the correct device.)
    • Call the NC State Help Desk at 919-515-4357 (HELP) if none of the above methods work.

Reactivate the Duo Mobile App

After you log in, you should be on the My Settings & Devices page.

  1. Select Device Options next to your device. It may also appear as a gear icon.
  2. Select Reactivate Duo Mobile.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reactivate or add your device.

Note: If you do not see the Reactivate Duo Mobile option, you may have set up your device for SMS only. We strongly recommend that you upgrade to the Duo Mobile app by adding your device as a new device.

Get Help

If you need further assistance, you can contact the NC State Help Desk by submitting a Get Help request in the IT Service Portal or calling 919-515-4357 (HELP). You can also visit the OIT Walk-in Center.
