Bring Your Own Meeting (BYOM) to a DELTA Zoom Room Instructions
Once you notify DELTA of your Zoom connection you will be given access to the Zoom Room calendar connected to the DELTA classroom you are teaching in. You will schedule your Zoom session in Google calendar and have the independence to manage your session as you need.
Scheduling your Zoom Room from Google Calendar:
A. Add the classroom to your Google calendar list using the “Add this calendar” link in the email invitation you receive from DELTA.
B. Add the “Zoom for Google Workspace” add-on to your Google calendar using “Google Workspace Marketplace”. Please ensure that you are logged into the google account connected to your unity ID.
C. In Google calendar create a calendar event on the start date of your course.
- Schedule the time frame of your Zoom session. Add 5 minutes to the end of your scheduled time to prevent your Zoom session from ending abruptly at the exact end time.
- Please do not add more than 10 minutes to the end of your Zoom session as it may run into another course.
D. Specify details, including setting recurring dates if your course occurs regularly and selecting an end date.
- Selecting “Custom” will give you the most flexibility and allow you to select a specific end date. Otherwise, your sessions will continue indefinitely on your calendar.
E. Create a Zoom session within the event by clicking “Add Video Conferencing” and then “Zoom Meeting”. The Zoom session will show up in your Zoom portal as well (https://ncsu.zoom.us/).
F. In the “Guests” field type in the DELTA classroom you are teaching in. Once selected, the room name will populate as a different name, that is expected.

G. Click “Save” and the scheduled event will populate on your calendar as well as on the Zoom room’s calendar. You can view the classroom calendar by selecting it under “Other calendars”.
Managing your Zoom Session
Make all edits to your Zoom session from the Google calendar. Changes made on your calendar will be reflected on the Zoom room calendar, in the Zoom Portal and in the classroom.
Once scheduled, changes made to your session in the Zoom portal WILL NOT be reflected on your calendar or the Zoom room calendar, which means the Zoom session inside the classroom will not reflect your changes.
