The Windows Group Policy Update command updates settings on the computer where the command is executed. This forces system changes to take effect more quickly than the average Group Policy update cycle which can be an hour or more in some instances.
Note: This process will only be useful if your computer is a managed desktop on the Wolftech domain. It does not require admin rights.
When it becomes necessary to force a group policy update, please follow these instructions:
- Click on the Start Menu, type this and press enter: cmd
- This will open up a new black and white window
- Type this and press enter: gpupdate /force
- Wait for the update to complete
- See the screenshot below for what a successful group policy update should look like
- To close, type this and press enter: exit
Note: You may be prompted to Restart your computer. If so complete the Restart.
