Information
Before you start
Connect to the NC State Network!
To use WolfPrint, your device must be connected to the campus network. If you’re off campus, establish a secure connection to the NCSU VPN service before trying to use the WolfPrint service.
- On-Campus: Connect eduroam or ncsu Wi-Fi
- Off-Campus: Use NC State's VPN Service
Installation and Configuration
Mobility Print advertises printers to macOS devices on the campus WiFi and over NC State's VPN connection.
- From the Apple menu, select System Settings, Printers & Scanners
- Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax...
- The Add Printer dialog is displayed.
- Type wolfprint in the search field to filter the list of discovered printers.
- Choose the WolfPrint FollowMe you'd like to install. Kind = Bonjour.
- Name, Location, and Use are auto-populated. USE = Secure AirPrint
- If Secure AirPrint isn't an option, stop here and report a WolfPrint Problem. Someone from the WolfPrint support team will contact you to help get you connected.
After you have added the Mobility Print printers to your device, follow these 3 easy steps to print!
Step 1. Submit a File
Print like you normally would from your device, selecting the desired WolfPrint Printer.
- When prompted, enter your Unity ID and password.
Step 2. Find a Printer
Visit https://go.ncsu.edu/printers to locate a WolfPrint printer that supports the virtual queue where you sent your file.
- If you sent it to the WolfPrint-BlackandWhite queue, find a Black and White printer.
- If you sent a file to the WolfPrint-Color queue, find a Color printer.
Step 3. Confirm and Release
*Complete this step within 12 hours, or your print job will be automatically removed from the system.
- Choose a Print Release method.
- Traditional: Swipe your NCSU ID card in the attached card reader
- Manual: Enter your Unity ID and password at the control panel
- Touch-Free: Scan the QR code with your phone's camera and log in to PaperCut
- Log in to the device and follow the prompts to release your print job.
Troubleshooting
It is rarely reported that a macOS device doesn't find the correct WolfPrint printers when using Eduroam or the NCSU wireless network, with the DNS settings set to auto. A workaround for this issue is to use a custom download that installs a mobility print client on your device that points directly to our mobility print server. Do NOT rename the downloaded file; the name tells it which server to point to. Here is the link: https://go.ncsu.edu/mobility-print-client-mac
Escalation
Any questions on process or content contained in this document should be escalated through the NCSU Help Desk and have an incident assigned to the OIT_WOLFPRINT support team.
