While using Google Drive for Desktop and accessing Google Drive files owned by other users you may see the following pop-up presented to you.

Google Workspace storage is full.  Files can't be uploaded because either your storage or the storage of a user shared on this file is full.

Google Workspace storage is full

This error is related to storage changes for Google Drive where the file owner has exceeded their allowed Google storage limits at NC State.  This could happen if the user who owns the file separates from the university and has no active affiliations.

Before taking any of the actions below be sure you are consulting with and working with others who have access to the files to avoid making duplicate copies and to ensure appropriate people retain access to items that are moved to a Shared Drive.

The Owner is separated and is not an active faculty, staff, or student

You will want to Move Files to an NC State Google Shared Drive, or make a copy and ensure the new copy is shared with all the appropriate people.  If a copy is made and you have sharing permissions to the original file you could consider removing who it is shared with to avoid future confusion with the new file.
