For both Duo and Google 2-Step Verification, you can complete enrollment without giving either system your phone number.
Duo
On the What type of device are you adding step of the enrollment process, choose either Tablet or Security Key.
- Your smart phone (iPhone or Android) can be the "Tablet" if you do not have an iPad, Nexus, or Galaxy Tab device.
- Enroll a Security Key for Duo.
On the first screen asking to set up your phone, click Show more options and choose either Security Key or Google Prompt
- Enroll a Security Key for Google.
- Use Google Prompt.
- Because Google Prompt stops working after changing your password, we recommend you set up at least one of the alternate methods below.
- Use Google Authenticator or other verification code apps like Duo Mobile.
- Set up backup codes.
