When signing into many NC State services you may encounter various error messages or display issues with those sites and services. In many cases, this can be a problem with locally cached data stored by your browser and often requires clearing this information to correct these related issues.
Clear History, Cache, and Cookies
- Log out of the impacted site if possible
- Close browser entirely.
- Open browser again. Select your browser from the below list for instructions on clearing cached data. When given an option to choose the time range for clearing cached browser, select All Time or the maximum amount of time.
- Close browser once more after it has completed clearing the cache and cookies.
- Open browser back up and navigate to site that was having error and try accessing it again
Notes:
- This will clear out all logins for all websites and will require 2-factor at your next login if you are enrolled in 2FA at NC State.
- It may sometimes take running through these steps multiple times to fix a browser data issue.
- If you use a Mac, you must quit the application using the browser menu. For example, if you use Chrome, you click "Chrome" near the top-left corner of your computer screen, and then click "Quit Google Chrome".
- If you cannot close or quit your browser completely at this time, then try to use an incognito/private browsing session or a differ browser to see if that corrects the problems you are experiencing.
