Your instructor may require exams to be taken using, Safe Exam Browser (SEB). SEB is a lockdown browser, included in Moodle, used to help ensure academic integrity.
A computer and broadband internet are required to use SEB. If you do not have the necessary equipment to complete your exams, check with the library to see if the technology is available to borrow.
To take an online test with SEB, navigate to the exam and launch SEB (or download if this is your first time accessing SEB). You won't be able to access the exam with a standard web browser.
Even though you may be taking the exam on your own, you should treat the testing environment as if you are in the classroom or test center. As a rule of thumb, clear your area of any personal items. Do not engage in any behavior you would not normally take part in during an on-campus, in-person exam — talking with others, using your phone, using non-permitted materials, etc.
Where Do I Start?
- Technical requirements
- Reliable broadband internet is required.
- Windows: 10, 8, 7, Mac: OS X 10.12 or higher.
- Use a device with only one monitor or disconnect external devices.
- Find a private testing space free from distractions.
- Take your exams in a seated position with your computer on a flat surface, such as a desk or table.
- Make sure your phone is away from the testing area. If you need to use DUO, log in and then place your phone out of arm’s reach.
- Be sure that you have a strong internet connection. If your connection cuts out, move closer to your router or connect a hard-wire to your laptop.
- If others in your location are using the same connection, ask them to refrain from streaming services such as videos and gaming while you take your exam.
