General Information

Google Custom Search is a platform provided by Google that allows web developers to feature specialized information in web searches, refine and categorize queries and create customized search engines, based on Google Search.

Requesting Non-profit Status and Removing Ads

Google CSEs support non-profit status for the NC State organization and any NCSU-managed domains, which allows you to enable ad-free searches. However, a request must be sent to NCSU Google Administrators to confirm the validity of the site for use with a CSE.

Submit a SN ticket to oit_google@help.ncsu.edu
  • Include the link to your site
  • Make sure that googleadmin@ncsu.edu is listed as an admin on your CSE.
  • OIT will verify the link/site and then the site owner can finish the CSE setup.
    • Once confirmation occurs, the site owner should be able to disable ads within 24 hours
Questions should be directed to the NC State Help Desk (help.ncsu.edu / 919.515.4357).
