Changing your email address for Apple accounts KB0021389
If you use an @ncsu.edu email address as your Apple ID for an Apple account, you are required to change your Apple ID by May 26, 2024.
NC State has claimed the @ncsu.edu domain with Apple — this means you are no longer able to use any email address that ends in @ncsu.edu to log in to your Apple account. This includes accounts used for university business or on a university-owned device.
You should have received an email from Apple on March 27, as well as reminders, prompting you to make this change. To see what that initial email looked like, see Notification from Apple about changing your email address.
To avoid service disruptions, change your email address now. Making this change will not affect your NC State Gmail account. Any email addresses not changed by May 26 will be automatically converted to a temporary address.
If Your Apple Account is Used for University Business or on a University-Owned Apple Device
You should change your Apple ID to <UnityID>@unity.ncsu.edu. This is an email alias that will ensure your account remains associated with NC State. Apple notifications will continue to be sent to your normal NC State Gmail account.
Follow these steps to change your email address from your device:
- Go to Settings, then select your name.
- Select Sign-In & Security.
- Next to Email & Phone Numbers, select Edit.
- Select the Remove button next to your email address, then select Delete.
- Select Choose Another Email Address and enter your device passcode if asked.
- Enter your <UnityID>@unity.ncsu.edu email address, then select Continue. For example: Jane Doe currently uses jdoe@ncsu.edu to log in to her university-owned device. Jane will change the email address on her device to jdoe@unity.ncsu.edu.
- Enter the verification code that was sent to your NC State email address.
