This document was created to explain how to make sure your NCSU Windows computing device maintains trust with the network.
The user is unable to log in to the university managed endpoint due to loss of trust with the NCSU WolfTech AD domain. This article will describe brief steps to be taken by the end user to re-establish their university managed endpoint on the NCSU WolfTech AD domain.
If off-campus, start a VPN connection using the process detailed below, starting with step One (1).
If on-campus, you may skip to Step Five (5).
1) Power on or restart your laptop/computer.
2) Make sure you have an active network connection (wired or wireless) by verifying in the lower right hand corner of the screen as shown in this below screenshot.
3) Select the "Network Sign-in" icon to establish the VPN connection.
4) Complete by logging into the NC State VPN
After establishing a VPN connection:
5) The user should use their Unity credentials to log in to the device and allow it to stay connected for at least 90 minutes (the longer, the better) to establish communication with the NCSU WolfTech AD domain controller.
6) Additionally, the user should also open File Explorer by right-clicking on the folder at the bottom of their desktop screen and selecting File Explorer.
7) Once File Explorer is open, click This PC, to see the following view and open a file in the user's Home Folder or one in the departmental share drive. This action will assist in confirming you are connected to the domain and ensure the device maintains the trust relationship with the domain.
By going through these steps, the end user will ensure their device is connecting to the NCSU WolfTech AD Domain.
