Home Use Application


The Home Use application - https://homeuse.toolbox.comtech.ncsu.edu/ (must be connected to the VPN if off-campus) allows University staff to check out devices/equipment they use at home or for other portable needs.  A confirmation email will be sent to the user, and a request email to the supervisor.

Please note that if you are working remotely (not on campus), a VPN connection is required to access the Home Use application. For more information about VPNs, including how to install them, visit the Virtual Private Networking (VPN) Service article.

User View Requests

If a user has made requests, they can view them via the View Requests button. Here, the user can check the status of their requests: Pending, Approved, or Denied

User Makes Requests

If the user needs to make a new request, they will use the Make Request button.  The Make Request button will take the user to the request form page.  Certain fields will be pre-filled based on the user’s Unity ID, including Department, Full Name, Unity ID, and supervisor/approver.  A confirmation will be sent to the user, and a request email will be sent to the supervisor.

Supervisor Manage Requests

Supervisors will use the Manage Requests button to view requests and Approve, Reject, or mark an approved request as Returned.  Supervisors can choose how to process all requests by clicking the View button.  Supervisors will get a Home Use email when the staff they manage submits a request.
