Special circumstances sometimes require students to drop all of their courses for a specified term, and this constitutes an official withdrawal from the university. It is important to note that a withdrawal may impact a student’s academic eligibility, financial aid, and progress towards a degree.
The policy and process to prepare your withdrawal request will differ depending on the time at which you plan to withdraw from classes (e.g., prior to the start of term, prior to the drop/revision deadline, or after the drop/revision date). Read the full text of NC State’s Policy on Term Withdrawal and NC State's Term Withdrawal Guide for more detailed information.
Additionally, there are different policies and procedures for Undergraduate Term Withdrawal and Graduate Term Withdrawal.
Students considering withdrawal should consult their advisor and/or department before beginning the withdrawal process.
