Due to changes implemented by Google, some of the features built-in to the Gemini in Workspace sidebars may not work unless a user takes explicit action. This does not impact the same features within the Gemini app (gemini.google.com).
To opt-in to these settings, you need to join each of the Google Groups below, tied to each individual Google service to allow Gemini to search and take actions in the sidebar. This is optional, but without joining these groups, you may lose access to functionality in the sidebar of Workspace apps like Gmail. You can join and leave these groups as desired.

As always, Google changes can take up to 24 hours to apply, but these features typically become available after 15 minutes. You will need to reload browser tabs to see the correct functionality.
