You can enroll your macOS device in eduroam by following the instructions below. The process is the same for enrolling in eduroam for the first time and for renewing your eduroam enrollment, but we recommend that you remove the existing eduroam profile first if you are re-enrolling your device.
Remove the eduroam Profile (if re-enrolling)
If you are re-enrolling your device in eduroam, we strongly recommend that you remove the existing eduroam profile first.
- From the Apple menu, select System Settings.
- Select Privacy and Security in the sidebar.
- Select Profiles. All saved profiles will load.
- Find the profile for eduroam.
- Select the Remove button to remove the profile.
Enroll or Re-Enroll in eduroam
Please note that if you do not want to log into eduroam each time you access the network, then you should allow Keychain Access if prompted during the enrollment process.
IMPORTANT: Do not delete the SecureW2 JoinNow app after you are connected to the network.
- Visit go.ncsu.edu/eduroamenroll on your macOS device. Make sure that you are not connected to the ncsu-guest network when you enroll.
- Confirm that the correct macOS version shows up and that Configure via disolvable Agent is selected.
- Select JoinNow. An application will begin to download.
- In Finder, locate WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper.dmg. Then, double-click the SecureW2 icon.
- If you are asked if you want to open it, select Open.
- Select Next and sign into the Shibboleth browser window that opens by using your Unity credentials.
- If you are prompted with the "WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper wants to make changes" window, enter your computer password and select OK.
- When the Profiles settings window in System Preferences opens, select install.... Then, select Install again.
- If you are prompted with the "Profiles/MDM wants to make changes" window, enter your computer password. Select OK.
Your device should now be configured for eduroam. If you are on campus, your device should automatically connect to the network. If you are off campus, you should automatically connect to the network when you are back on campus.
Grant Access to Your Keychain
Make sure that you grant Keychain Access on your Mac when prompted during the enrollment process if you do not want to log into eduroam each time you access the network. If you do not grant Keychain access, eduroam will ask you to log in each time you access the network. The eduroam network needs access to your Keychain to store the network login credentials.
- When you see the keychain access prompt during the eduroam enrollment process, enter your keychain password. The prompt will likely say, "WiFi_JoinNow_Wrapper wants to access key 'enrolledSecureW2' in your keychain. To allow this, enter the 'login' keychain password," or give a similar message.
- Your keychain password will either be your computer password or your Apple ID password.
- Select Always Allow.
