If you are traveling outside of the United States for an extended period, you'll likely want to make sure that you can access all of your NC State accounts while you're abroad. Typically, when individuals travel outside of the US, the two most common issues that will prevent them from accessing their account are a loss of access to two-factor authentication and website restrictions enforced by the country they're traveling to.
If your account is enrolled in Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and you plan on accessing your account while traveling abroad, using the Duo Mobile app and/or a U2F security key is strongly recommended, rather than using SMS messages for passcodes. You can use the Duo Mobile app on a smartphone or tablet.
If you are already out of the country and are unable to log in through Two-Factor, call the NC State Help Desk at 919-515-4357. If you cannot call, contact the Help Desk by emailing help@ncsu.edu to see if there are arrangements that can be made to assist you. The NC State Help Desk is open 8 am - 5 pm Monday-Friday and is closed on official university holidays.
Warning: The use of VPN software may be illegal in certain countries and could subject the user to criminal prosecution.
Some countries may restrict access to certain websites, such as Google. Typically, educational websites such as WolfWare, Moodle, and Mediasite are not blocked, but if you find that you are unable to access certain web content due to national internet restrictions in the country you are visiting, you might find it useful to request access to the Full Tunnel VPN.
Once you are granted access to the Full Tunnel VPN, see this website for information on how to connect.
