SCCM collects information on a workstation by running inventory cycles, such as hardware inventory, software inventory, policy updates, and software deployment cycles. It is possible to speed up software deployment, for instance, by forcing a workstation to run through these cycles manually.
Information
You will need:
- admin rights on the local workstation.
- access to the workstation (physical access or via Remote Desktop).
Procedure
- Log into the workstation with an ID with local admin rights.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Click "System and Security."
- Click "Configuration Manager."
- Click the "Actions" tab of the "Configuration Manager Properties" window.
- Click the first cycle and click "Run Now."
- Repeat for all of the cycles one by one. Don't wait for completion before launching the next - rapid-fire will work.
- Close the windows and wait a bit for the cycles to complete. The entire process could take a few hours.
Escalation
