All NC State users, regardless of Google license levels, will encounter AI usage levels across the various applications (Gemini, Gemini Notebook, Gemini for Workspace, etc.).  Users should familiarize themselves with these usage levels and plan for these limits or potentially upgrade to an AI Pro for Education license when appropriate.

Sampling of Google Gemini Usage Limits

Some of the most frequently encountered limits include:

• Limits on models*.  Education Plus licensed users currently (July, 2026) receive up to 300 prompts/day for the thinking model
• Limits on content generation*
  • Education Plus licensed users currently (July, 2026) receive up to 5 Deep Research reports per month, 20 Image generations per day (Nano Banana), and up to 20 slide generations per day.

The majority of the limits reset each day.  NC State Help Desk does not have the ability to reset users, troubleshoot lost limits, or view current usage.

*Google frequently updates their products.  These limits are all subject to change without notice.  Users should visit Google's official Gemini usage guidelines for the most up to date limits.  Most NC State users (full time faculty, staff, and students) possess Workspace for Education (Education Plus) licenses.  The current chart shows Education Plus and AI Pro limits.
