Recover Your Alumni Account

Google 2-Step is required for your NCSU alumni account. You will get an error message saying, "Couldn't sign you in. Your sign-in settings don't meet your organization's 2-Step Verification policy. Contact your admin for more info," or "Contact your domain admin for help," if you did not set up Google 2-Step during the enrollment window or if you forgot your password before setting up Google 2-Step. In either case, you will need to recover your alumni account.

Alumni Account Recovery Process

Going through the alumni account recovery process will reset your password and will re-open Google 2-Step enrollment.

  1. Go to the Alumni account recovery site.
  2. Select Login through Shibboleth. Log in with your Unity ID and password.
  3. Select Reset Password....
  4. After your temporary password has been created, wait at least five minutes before trying to log back into your alumni account.
  5. Log into your alumni account with your temporary password.
  6. Complete the login challenge using your backup phone, backup email, or one of the bypass codes provided on the recovery page.
  7. Enroll and turn on Google 2-Step immediately when prompted. You will be locked out again if you do not enroll in Google 2-Step.
    • If you are not prompted to enroll in Google 2-Step, make sure that you have Google 2-Step turned on in your Google account settings for 2-Step Verification. Make sure that you are signed into your alumni account when checking your settings.
