Current students can get support with hardware issues at the
OIT Walk-in Center.
The Walk-in Center will help troubleshoot and diagnosis issues as much as possible for personal devices owned by current students (including out-of-warranty devices), but the device typically still needs to be under warranty for any issues that require hardware repairs/replacements.
Supported Devices
Your computer does not need to be bought at the NC State Bookstore for support, but the device typically still needs to be under warranty.
- Lenovo — ThinkPad models only, and must be under the manufacturer's warranty
- Dell — Precision, Latitude, and Pro models only, and must be under valid manufacturer's warranty
- Apple — Any model covered by AppleCare or AppleCare+
Devices Out of Warranty
If your device is no longer under warranty, the Walk-in Center may or may not be able to provide assistance with hardware repairs/replacements. Please note that they can still provide assistance with troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Out-of-warranty Macs are often eligible for repairs, but you can expect to pay out of pocket for any replacement parts.
- Most non-Apple devices are not eligible for out-of-warranty support at the Walk-in Center.
