Google Pay is intentionally disabled at NC State because Google provides no way for users to transfer any purchases to another Google account. This is to avoid users buying and paying for apps that cannot be transferred elsewhere when their affiliation with the university ends. There is a potential risk for students, faculty, and staff to lose any money and purchases associated with their NC State Google account upon separation from the University.

OIT also does not recommend using a prepaid card to purchase items from Google Play on NC State Google accounts due to the inability to transfer purchases from your NC State Google account.

Any purchases you may wish to make should go through a personal consumer @gmail.com account. OIT understands that purchases this way may not bring the apps' desired benefits to your NC State Google account, but there are no current or future plans to allow Google Pay at NC State.
