Students in most residence halls can access a wired connection by connecting their device directly to the access point in their room. Devices must be enrolled in Nomad before connecting to the network.
Connect Your Device to the Network
- Enroll your device in Nomad. You will not be able to connect to the network until after you've enrolled your device.
- Connect your device to the ethernet port on the wireless access point in your room (or appropriate ethernet wall port in your campus apartment) using an ethernet cable.
Ethernet in Campus Apartments
In a campus apartment (e.g., Wolf Ridge, Wolf Village, Greek Village, and ES King Village), there is typically an access point in the living room and an ethernet wall port in each bedroom. Make sure that you use the correct ethernet port for your apartment. You are still required to enroll your device in Nomad before using the wall ports.
- Wolf Ridge Bedroom — Use the upper-left ethernet wall port.
- Wolf Village Bedroom — Use the lower-right ethernet wall port.
- Greek Village Bedroom — Use the red ethernet wall port.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Wait 30 minutes before trying to connect to the network. Device registration can take up to 30 minutes.
- Restart your device, including completely unplugging it from its power source.
- Leave the device off and unplugged for an extended amount of time (e.g. several hours). Then, try turning it on and connecting the network.
