  1. Seal all penetrations of fire-rated construction using the tested UL system applicable to the penetrated construction. This includes all floors, corridor walls, and other assemblies required to be sealed against fire/smoke spread.

  2. If any exceptions to the above table are found on-site during construction, the contractor shall contact the NC State communication technologies office to determine the appropriate firestop system to be used.

  3. All details are reprinted from the online certifications directory with permission from UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES, INC. All details are copyrighted. 2019 UNDERWRITERS LABORATORIES, INC.

  4. A wall or floor assembly must rigidly support all wireways to eliminate movement in fire-stopped areas. When anchoring the wire way to the wall or floor, do not use sheet metal screws; instead, use round-head bolts on the inside of the wire way with nuts on the outside, and secure the cover with screws on each side. Firestop according to UL details.
