Get2Factor (G2F) is the preferred way for NC State users to use two-factor authentication for generic accounts with three or more service contacts and other high-usage generic accounts.
Generate Get2Factor Codes
You can access Google 2-Step codes for your generic account by using the Get2Factor tool.
- Go to the Get2Factor site.
- Select My Codes.
- Log in with your Unity ID and password (if you are not already logged in).
- Select the account you want to view the two-factor code for from the list of My Accounts in Get2Factor.
- The Get2Factor code will appear. You can only use the code while the timer is still running.
Note: If you do not see the desired account in the list, you may not have access to view that account. To request access, reach out to the service contacts for the account.
Use Get2Factor Codes
You may want to read through these instructions before trying to use the Get2Factor code. Get2Factor codes expire after 30 seconds. They will only work while the timer is still running. Codes will automatically refresh after 30 seconds.
- Select Copy to Clipboard. After the six-digit code appears, you can use it to sign into the Google generic account while the timer is still running.
- Sign into the generic account using the email address and password.
- Select Next to be brought to the 2-Step Verification page.
- Paste the code from your clipboard in the Enter code field under "Get a verification code from the Google Authenticator app."
- If the Enter code field does not appear, select Try another way. Then select Get a verification code from the Google Authenticator app. The Enter code field should appear.
- Select Next to log in.
