What is WolfPrint and How do I Print?

WolfPrint is NC State’s accounted printing service and can be used by anyone with a Unity ID and a valid All Campus Account.  You must have funds in your All Campus account, PaperCut print credit, or have  access to a WolfPrint shared account, to cover the cost of of your print job, or you cannot use the sytem.

WolfPrint uses PaperCut MF software to provide FollowMe Printing, which allows users to send a secure print job to a virtual queue and retrieve it at a supported WolfPrint printer.  Once a print job is sent to a FollowMe printer, you have up to 12 hours to print it, after that it is automatically removed from the system.  To locate a printer near you, visit go.ncsu.edu/printers.

To print with WolfPrint, your device must be connected to the campus networkMobile devices must be connected to the eduroam or ncsu Wi-Fi.  If you’re off campus, establish a secure connection to the NCSU VPN service before trying to use the WolfPrint service.

Commonly Reported Issues

1.  I am getting an error message, and the WolfPrint Website won't load.

Connect to the NC State Network!  To use WolfPrint, your device must be connected to the campus network.  If you’re off campus, establish a secure connection to the NCSU VPN service before trying to use the WolfPrint service.

2.  I have money in my All Campus Account, but WolfPrint is showing a $0.00 balance available.

If your All Campus card has been reported lost or has reached its expiration date, the funds in your account will not be available for use. WolfPrint will be able to confirm the issue for you, but you'll need to contact the WolfPack One Card office to resolve it.  For more information, see KB0021500

3.  I am getting a "disallowed paper size" error message and can't print my file.

If you are getting a disallowed paper size error when printing your file, you'll need to convert the page size of the document to US Letter.  If you need a larger size page printed, you can send your print job to a WolfPrint 11x17 printer.  For more information, see KB0011383

Print Costs, Payment Methods, and Refunds

1.  How much does it cost to print?

The cost per page to print differs based on the type of printer (black and white or color) and the paper size (letter, tabloid, or plotter).  For the current rates, see KB0016409

2.  How do I pay for print services?

WolfPrint Payment Options include the All Campus Account (most popular), PaperCut Print Credit (usally from print refunds), and a WolfPrint shared account (departmental funds).

3.  What is a WolfPrint Shared Account?

A shared account is created in PaperCut and is used for departments to fund printing.  To request a new Shared Account or to add funds and funds/users to an existing Shared Account, submit a Departmental Funding for WolfPrint Request.

4.  How do I print using a shared account?

Printing using a shared account will look the same as printing with your account, except you will select the shared account number to charge your print job to when printing, not your personal WolfPrint account.  For step-by-step instructions, see KB0021307.

5.  If my print job fails or has poor quality, can I request a refund?

WolfPrint will usually refund your print credit if your print job fails or has poor print quality. All refunds are applied to the PaperCut account as print credit.  See KB0021347  for instructions on how to submit a WolfPrint Refund Request.

6.  What is Print Credit?

Print Credit is generated when a print job is refunded. It can only be used for printing and does not expire.  If you are graduating or planning to withdraw from the University, you may submit a request for a Full Refund of WolfPrint Credit

While traditional print release using an NCSU ID card or manual login will still be available, users have the option to scan a WolfPrint QR Code for Touch-Free Print Release and release their print job from the web.

You can send your print job from an off-campus location, and it will be held for you in the WolfPrint virtual FollowMe print queue for up to 12 hours.
