If your transcript is from an institution outside the United States and is not in English (or does not include an English translation), it must be provided in English before your application can be fully processed.
Note: Transcript requirements vary by program, and not all programs require submission of transcripts.
If a transcript is required for your program, it must clearly show:
- Your cumulative GPA (if applicable)
- The degree earned and type of degree awarded (such as associate, bachelor’s, etc.), if applicable
If a Transcript Is Required, How to Meet This Requirement
You may use one of the following options:
- Request an English transcript from your institution: Many international colleges and universities are able to provide official transcripts in English that include the required information.
- Use a credential evaluation service: If your institution cannot provide an English transcript, you may use a credential evaluation service such as World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).
These services can provide an English-language evaluation that includes GPA and degree equivalency information.
Important Notes
- NC State Online and Distance Education does not provide transcript translation or credential evaluation services.
- This process may take several weeks, so you are encouraged to begin as soon as possible to avoid delays in processing your application.
How to Submit Your Documents
The Online and Distance Education office does not accept mailed transcripts. Please upload your translated transcript or credential evaluation to your student status page in the application portal once it is complete.
