Official transcripts are only required once you have officially been recommended by your department for admission. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to upload an unofficial transcript to your admissions application, prior to submission.
If you have been recommended for admission, and we have requested your official transcript, it should be sent directly to The Graduate School. The official documents can be sent one of the following ways:
1. The transcript is printed and sealed in an envelope by your previous Institution
- Note: this can either be submitted by you or your institution as long as the transcript seal has not been broken. These can be submitted either via courier mail or handed in person to the Graduate School Front Desk. Please include your Applicant ID number and/or NCSU ID number on the envelope to ensure quick processing upon receipt.
2. The transcript is sent to us electronically via a recognized delivery service from your previous institution.
- Note: We accept online transcripts through ClearingHouse, e-Scrip, Parchment, TrueCopy, and WES. The email ID used to access these records is graduate_applications@ncsu.edu. We will not accept encrypted transcript attachments from your email, even if they were sent to you by your university.
3. The transcript is sent as an email attachment only if it is emailed from an administrator or faculty member using their official school email that can be verified on the school website.
- Note: Your school official can send the transcript directly to: graduate_applications@ncsu.edu. For us to authenticate and accept the transcript, the email must include, the sender’s full name, job title, and department, a direct link to your university’s official directory page (similar to https://grad.ncsu.edu/about/people/) where we can verify the sender’s identity and email address. We do not accept transcripts from generic email domains (e.g., @gmail.com, @hotmail.com, @yahoo.com), nor will we accept encrypted transcript attachments sent from your personal email, even if originally from your university.
Please note that we are unable to return official transcripts that are mailed to The Graduate School.
