Creating a WordPress Site Using the Quick Start Site Shell

The WolfWare WordPress Quick Start Site Shell is designed to provide an easier starting point for constructing a WordPress site. As an example, visit the Quick Start Shell site here.

This article provides guidance on using the Site Shell to quickly configure and set up a WolfWare WordPress site.

Using the Quick Start Site Shell

To create a new WolfWare WordPress site using the Quick Start Site Shell, a WolfWare space will need to be requested for the WordPress site.

For an R&R course offering, follow the instructions in the "Requesting a WolfWare Space" article to request the space. For a Projects space, follow the instructions in Creating a WolfWare Projects Space and Moodle Projects Course to request the space.

The specific settings available for a WordPress site can vary based on instructor preference. See an explanation of each setting on the "Get Started With WolfWare WordPress" WolfWare WordPress Essentials page.

To create a WordPress site with the Quick Start Site Shell:

  1. Log into WolfWare.
  2. Locate the course block for the space that needs a WordPress site.
  3. On the right side of that block, click the Add tools and manage your course settings icon (which looks like interlocking gears).
  4. In the Inactive Tools table in the Course Management page, locate the row for WordPress, and click on the activate link in the Actions column.
  5. On the WordPress page, review and configure settings as needed.
  6. In the WordPress Site Copier section at the bottom of the page, open the drop-down menu for Source Site: selection.
  7. In that drop-down menu, select the WolfWare WordPress Quick Start Site Shell (DELTA theme) option.
  8. Click the Update WordPress Settings button.

The site copier will begin the process of copying the site shell over to the requested WordPress space.  It may take a hour or so to have the WordPress site built.
