If you are a graduate student or a postdoc/house officer at NC State, you're eligible to participate in our teaching programs and work towards earning two types of Teaching Certificates: Basic and Advanced. When completing either of these certificates, you will receive a notation on your transcript. The Basic Teaching Certificate consists of four competency-building components: four foundational workshops, four elective workshops, an “Experience” component where you complete a teaching or mentoring experience, and a “deliverable” that showcases your teaching skills. The Advanced Teaching Certificate is a multi-session, cohort learning experience that offers you the opportunity to take your teaching skills to the next level by presenting micro-teaching demonstrations, crafting and designing high-quality learning experiences, and engaging in seminar-style discussions with a small cohort of peers on readings that highlight research-based teaching strategies.
