Instructors may periodically need to access academic Moodle courses from prior semesters for various reasons, including, but not limited to, obtaining student grade data and/or course content.
This article provides instructions on how to access these courses.
To find and access previous academic Moodle courses via WolfWare, follow these instructions.
Users who have bookmarked the previous year’s server should update those bookmarks. To link directly to a Moodle course, or to set up a direct browser bookmark, be sure to use the correct Moodle server for the current academic year. Log into a Unity account if prompted.
Moodle courses and the relevant data within those courses is only retained for four years per our WolfWare Retention Guidelines, SOP.WW-WolfWare.006. Any courses older than four years are no longer available.
One year after the course was completed, a VPN connection will be required to access the appropriate Moodle server. Follow the instructions in OIT's "How do I install the NC State VPN client?" article to use NC State's VPN service. If VPN isn't used, a notice will be provided indicating that a VPN must be used to access that academic server.
While WolfWare is compatible with all major browsers, Chrome and Safari are recommended for the best experience. If Firefox is used with the VPN connection, add the URL of the academic server (which is provided in the mentioned notice) to the Exceptions list of DNS over HTTPS settings using Mozilla's "Configure DNS over HTTPS protection levels in Firefox" article. Without this setting, WolfWare may not recognize that the VPN is active, and may continue to block access to the academic server.
