The OIT Managed Desktop Service provides Limited Use of a Loaner Workstation as part of our service offering to units supported by OIT. 

OIT has both Apple and Windows devices available to our supported end users. 

• Provided Loaner devices will be a laptop form factor.
• Loaner devices are configured for general use and not with specific applications or configurations tailored to user preferences. 
• If the repair of a warrantied device requires an extended period of time, a temporary loaner computer can be specifically configured for the affected customer.
• OIT will arrange a time with the customer to return the repaired device to service and collect the loaner device.
• If a failed device is not manufacturer-warrantied and OIT determines that repair is not feasible (e.g., not upgradable to current specifications, difficult to obtain parts), OIT will inform the department LANTech and extend the use of the loaner device.
• Technicians are responsible for tracking the deployment and recovery of loaners devices.
  • This will be done through a separate incident in the customer's name and, if necessary, associated to the original repair incident. 
• Customers should be educated about the temporary nature of the loaner device on delivery.
