Panopto organizes video recordings into various folders. This article describes where these folders can be accessed, and what they contain.
To review all folders, log into the NC State Panopto portal, and in the left-hand menu, select the Browse link at the bottom of the list.
This will launch a navigation window where users can review All Folders in the Panopto system available to them, as well as their personal folder titled My Folder.
All Folders includes all folders that users can access as a viewer or creator. Some folders located here will appear greyed out. These folders contain subfolders or sessions that users can access as a viewer or creator.
To access this content, click on the drop-down arrow on the left side of a folder to expand the subfolders. Depending on the hierarchy of the folder structure, users may need to expand a few subfolders to reveal the actual folder or session they can access.
My Folders includes all folders that users can access as a creator. Some folders located here will appear greyed out. If a user has creator access to a folder, they will have the same access to any subfolders or recordings in the folder.
To access this content, click on the drop-down arrow on the left side of the folder or subfolder.
Everything is a filtered view that provides all videos directly shared with the user, and any folders made publicly available for the organization to view. It is not a specific location in the way that the classroom capture folders or My Folder are, and is instead a way to look at all accessible videos.
There are a few folders added by default to Panopto.
This is personal folder for each user. It is a private folder for content that a user creates. My Folder cannot be shared, but the particular videos or subfolders it contains can be shared.
To access My Folder, in the left hand navigation menu, click the My Folder option. Click on any additional subfolder within the My Folder to review additional content.
My Folder is the first folder listed in each tab.
This folder is where classroom recordings are stored. Before the semester starts, a course folder and schedule will be created here, and the instructor (or if there are multiple instructors, only the "first" instructor) will receive an email with a link to the course folder. Student viewing access is also automatically added to this folder, so students who are enrolled in the class do not need to be added manually.
Course folders are automatically created by the DELTA Panopto support team. This folder contains the recording schedule for courses and classroom recordings. Class permissions are automatically applied to this folder at the time of creation.
Instructors can add other course groups or individual students by following the instructions in the "Sharing Panopto Videos and Folders" article.
The Classroom Capture folder is located under the All Folders tab, and will appear grayed out with a drop-down arrow on the left side. Click on the drop-down arrow for this and any other folders to find the course folder. The course folder will not be grayed out.
Moodle course folders are automatically created when a request to create a Moodle course is made in WolfWare. Instructors who access Panopto from Moodle can record a session directly to this folder. Users can post a link to this folder or any sessions in it to Moodle.
This folder can be found in the All Folders tab. There is a greyed-out Moodle folder with a drop-down arrow on the left side. Click on the dropdown arrow for this and any other folders, until the Moodle course folder in question appears. Moodle course folders will not be greyed out.
