I am an international transfer student. When will my NC State University I-20 be issued?

You will first need to have your Visa Certificate Form (VCF) and Certificate of Financial Responsibility (CFR) documents approved. These documents are available to you as  links on your international checklist in your application portal after your department has recommended your admission. After approval, your admission will be processed to completion so that you are able to register for classes with your Unity ID, but your I-20 is not issued until your current institution releases your SEVIS record. You will indicate your SEVIS transfer date in the Visa Clearance Form. Your I-20 will be issued within 4 business days of your transfer date.  You will also need to indicate your enrollment intention using the link in the decision letter before your I-20 will be issued.

Please keep in mind that once your SEVIS record is transferred to NC State University, you will no longer have work authorization at your current university.

NEW FAQ: What if my SEVIS transfer date ends up being different than the date I indicated in my Visa Clearance Form?

If your date ends up changing after speaking with your current school, please email International Admissions & Recruiting Manager Caity Gampp (crgampp@ncsu.edu) to let us know your transfer date has changed.
