Course Ready is NC State's digital-preferred, flat-rate course materials program for degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled in courses at NC State. This program is supported by the Wolfpack Outfitters Bookstore and managed through the course materials platform, VitalSource.

This article provides instructions for instructors to add a Course Ready - VitalSource activity to a Moodle course.

Add a Course Ready - VitalSource Link to a Course

Instructors of undergraduate courses can provide access to required course materials using Course Ready - VitalSource activity in their Moodle course page. 

To add the activity, it must be enabled as a pre-configured tool in the activity chooser using the directions in the "Managing LTI External Tools in Moodle" article.

Adding a Course Ready - VitalSource Link

To add the Course Ready - VitalSource activity to a Moodle course:

1. In the top right corner of the Moodle window, enable Edit mode using the toggle.
2. In any given section, select the Add content icon (which looks like a plus sign).
3. In the drop-down menu that appears, click the Activity or resource option.
4. In the activity picker, select Course Ready - VitalSource.
5. In the New external tool page, enter a name for the Course Ready - VitalSource activity.
6. Configure any optional settings, if desired. In most cases, default settings for the activity can be left as-is.
7. At the bottom of the settings page, click the Save and return to course button.
8. Open the newly-added Course Ready - VitalSource activity.

This will begin the process of syncing the required course materials to the VitalSource platform. Students and other enrolled users should be able to access these materials through the Course Ready - VitalSource link within two hours.

Managing Previously Added Links

If a Course Ready - VitalSource has been copied into a Moodle course from previous semester, it must be deleted and then re-created using the steps in the "Adding a Course Ready - VitalSource link" section of this article.
