When accessing the ncsu network, it may allow you to login with your Unity ID but will only present a white screen online or will not let you get by your browser's internet access screen, even if the computer indicates you are on the ncsu network.
This is potentially caused by an overload of devices joining the network. This article will review how to fix the issue.
Enroll in Nomad
To fix this, you must register your device on Nomad first.
- Acquire the wireless MAC address of the device you want to enroll in the 'ncsu' network.
- With a device connected to either the ncsu or eduroam network, navigate to the Nomad Registration System.
- If you do not have any devices on these networks, enroll your phone on eduroam while it is on wireless data.
- Log in with your Unity credentials and select Accept when prompted.
- Select Add Device from the left-hand sidebar.
- Fill in the description for the device (i.e. "My Phone" or "MacBook Pro," etc.).
- Remove what is in the MAC address field and type in the address you got in Step 1.
- Select Add Device.
- Connect the device you registered to the 'ncsu' wireless network.
- Wait 15-20 minutes for device to authenticate. If it is still not working after this switch to ncsu_guest, and then back to ncsu.
Enroll in eduroam
Once connected to ncsu, NC State strongly encourages you to enroll in the encrypted eduroam network if your device is eligible (i.e. laptops, phones, and tablets).
