Why am I seeing the message “Access denied. Duo Security does not provide services in your current location” in the Duo Prompt?
In order to comply with U.S. regulations, Duo blocks authentications from users whose IP address originates in a country or region subject to economic and trade sanctions enforced by the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control.
OFAC restrictions relevant to Duo currently apply to the following countries or regions:
Legally, Duo is not able to offer any official exceptions to customers who wish to support multi-factor authentication (MFA) in OFAC-restricted countries or regions. As a result, you will not be allowed to authenticate to NCSU resources protected by Duo MFA as long as your Internet traffic comes from one of the countries listed above.
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is often used to bypass these restrictions.
Warning: The use of VPN software may be illegal in certain countries and could subject the user to criminal prosecution.
