Your I-20 should match your name as it is listed in the machine-readable portion of your passport. This portion is located at the very bottom of your biographical information page. If your passport only has a given name or has only a singular name listed, the name listed will be listed as your surname and your given name will be blank, as immigration requires a surname. If you wish to have your I-20 issued differently than what is listed in the passport readable section, you must have your passport corrected.
