Using Anonymous Access in a Moodle Projects Space

Anonymous access allows anyone to access a Moodle Projects space without signing in. It creates a temporary Guest user for the duration of that user's session.

This article details how to enable Anonymous access in a Moodle Projects space.

Enabling Anonymous Access

Anonymous access is available in the Enrollment methods page.

To enable anonymous access as an enrollment method:

  1. In the course menu at the top of the main Moodle course page, select the Participants tab.
  2. In the drop-down menu at the top left of the page, select Enrollment methods from the list.
  3. At the bottom of the list in the Enrollment methods page, use the Add method dropdown and select the Anonymous access option.
  4. Click the Add method button to add the enrollment method with the default settings.

Anonymous access is now enabled for the course. Whenever the space owner shares a link to the space, any user that does not have an active Moodle account will be redirected to the course login page and a Use Anonymous Access button or Password field in the Anonymous Access section of the login page will appear. The Anonymous Access section appears at the bottom of the login page, so some users may need to scroll down in order to view and access that option.

The instructor may also set a password for the anonymous access option.
