Instructors can change the maximum grade of an Assignment activity in Moodle at any time, even if grades have already been awarded.
This article provides instructions on modifying the maximum grade of an Assignment.
If the Assignment has already been graded, then changing the maximum grade may require a rescale of the existing grades.
To access the grade settings of an Assignment:
At this point, if any grades have already been awarded using the incorrect scale then rescaling the grades will be required. Otherwise, the Rescale existing grades option will not appear.
To change the max grade field in the Assignment settings:
This will change all the graded submissions so that their grades are properly calculated based on the new maximum grade. Depending on the grade design of the course, further edits may be needed in the gradebook.
*If grades were entered based on the intended scale but the maximum was just not set properly the instructor may set the rescale option to No and the previously entered grade data will not be adjusted, those grades will simply be calculated using the new proper maximum grade.
