If you have the Duo Mobile app installed and activated on your phone, you can generate a Duo Mobile passcode. Duo Mobile passcodes work anywhere, including places where you don't have an internet connection and/or can't get cell service.
Using a Duo Mobile passcode
- On the Duo login page, select Enter a Passcode.
- If Duo is already trying to send you a push notification, select Other options. Then, select Duo Mobile passcode.
- Open the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone. Tap your NC State University account in the Accounts list.
- Enter the passcode in the Passcode field.
- Select Verify.
- If you are on your personal device, select Yes, this is my device. If you are on a shared device (e.g., a library computer), select No, other people use this device.

If you are experiencing issues generating a passcode, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
- Update your Duo Mobile app. Duo requires Duo Mobile 4.49.0 or newer for TOTP.
- If you are still having trouble, you can contact the NC State Help Desk by calling 919-515-4357 (HELP) or submitting a Report an Issue request in the IT Service Portal.
